It's been 6 months since I started my retirement life as a knitting tech editor. When I started this blog I had set myself a target of one blog post a month. I have many excuses for not fulfilling this aim.

I have updated this website. When I first started, I was unsure of how much to charge and tried a pay-what-you-want model. I believe this is one of the reasons my business has not taken off as potential clients are not sure if their offers are acceptable. With this update, I am proposing a flat rate model. As I am still new to tech editing, my rates are modest. Please view My Services page to find out more.

Although I am still optimistic, I must say my tech editing business has been rather slow. So far, I have edited two items. The first is the Ahad Bag by Bash Harry, a young designer from Brunei. The pattern can be found on Ravelry.

The second is also another design by Bash Harry which will be published soon.

Bash found me while she was looking for a tech editor that was closer to home by Googling 'knitting tech editor in asia'. So you see, Google works!

I'm optimistic that after these two projects my tech editing business will pick up a bit as I gain experience.

In the meantime, I am knitting to keep myself in the knitting frame of mind.

Earlier this year, I was knitting Cath Ward's Shetland Forest Garden. with Morris and Sons Empire 2 ply, which was bought on a pre-COVID trip to Melbourne, Australia. I started on this shawl as a learning journey into lace. Although I am fascinated with lace patterns, knitting in lace yarn is rather too much on my eyes. After going at it for several months, I decided that I needed a break, and put it aside for later. The shawl will be shown here when it is finished.

My next project was chosen because I wanted to support local designers -- designers based in the ASEAN region. There is a designer who goes by the name yamagara, based in Singapore. I made the Hikari top with Sandnes Garn Tynn Line yarn, which I bought from a shop called Statement Junkie in Sherwood Park, Alberta, Canada, while visiting my daughter.

This is it. I hope you like it.
